The Raise of LVMH
If you are interested in fashion and design then this lens is for you, Not known to most the LVMH group or Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy is a the worlds largest luxury brands company. This is the company that makes your LV handbags and many other luxury goods. LVMH is a very innovative company and has a rich history bound in tradition. Here you will find information about LVMH's CEO, French businessman Bernard Arnault and a brief history of the raise of LVMH. The company has an amazing history and I hope that after this lens you will have more appreciation of LVMH's "price" "value" even if you cant afford there products like me.
Enjoy and please leave a comment or like me. Or shortened to LVMH, is a French holding company for one of the world's largest luxury goods conglomerates. It is the parent of around of over 60 subcompanies that each manages a small number of prestigious brands. Including Donna Karan New York, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Guerlain, Bulgari and TAG Heuer.
The group was formed after mergers between brought together champagne producer Mot et Chandon and Hennessy, a leading manufacturer of cognac and then a merger with fashion house Louis Vuitton to form the current group in 1987.
The Mastermind behind all of this is a French businessman Bernard Arnault (born 5 March 1949 in Roubaix). He is currently the 4th richest person in the world, and European Union and France's richest person with an estimated net worth of $41 billion US dollars, according to a Forbes report in 2011. He is both Chairman and CEO of LVMH.
Bernard Arnault has been awarded the French Legion of Honor. He is a pianist, patron of the arts and in 2010 even established a Louis Vuitton foundation for contemporary art, opening at the Jardin d'acclimatation.
Prior to the formation of LVMH, The french fashion and other luxury good industry in France was struggling to survive, lacking innovation and a connection with the modern world.
After forming LVMH, to solve this problem Bernard Arnault focused away from the traditional and onto the new and creative energies that were emerging in France. He wanted to imbed a design philosophy into LVMH by harness the creativity of the fashion world and bring it to the luxury marketplace. A formula that he has used repeatedly by hiring new designer like John Galliano, Marc Jacob, to transform traditional brands into commercial success they are today.
"If you deeply appreciate and love what creative people do and how they think, which is usually in unpredictable and irrational ways, then you can start to understand them. And finally, you can see inside their minds and DNA." Bernard Arnault (2001)
Arnault's successful integration of various famous "struggling" brands into LVMH has made him one of the most influential people in fashion.
In 2007, Arnault was listed among Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World.
Although LVMH products and brands are well known, michael kors pas cher, Bernard Arnault influence on the fashion world, innovation in business are relatively less known but the use of his design philosophy has made LVMH the world's number one "luxury good" company. These fact may not be well known in the general public and why his products are famous and valued at a premium, but for the few interested in the area of fashion design.
An interesting fact is that George Vuitton son of founder of Louis Vuitton of "LV" was accredited for developing LV's unique fivecombination lock for there famous travel truck (wooden suit cases), which we see everyday in nearly every luggage case. LV was also known for developing the water proof canvas used through out all there products today.
Design innovation is evident though out LVMH's product range from the design of perfume bottles, watches to hand bags, with many of them receiving international awards for design innovation.
Currently the creative director of Louis Vuitton is American Fashion Designer Marc Jacobs and use a similar philosophy in the creative direction of LV has been very success by working with Japanese designer Takashi Murakami and bringing new life into the traditional LV image. Creator of the famous Cherry Blossom LV monogram, which allowed LV products to enter the youth market.
The success of this formula in terms of design integration combine with a good business model has resulted in other luxury companies to follow Arnault lead for example Gucci (now part of the French conglomerate PPR) and Richemont, have also created extended portfolios of luxury brands but have limited success as with LVMH.
