Reuse Old Zippers as New Fashion Statement
Zippers are 'in' right now. They're decorating clothes and bags on runways everywhere. Sure, many of them are utterly purposeless, but this is great news for green fashionistas. One of my biggest fashion petpeeves, functionality wise, is the zipper. I feel like these intricate monsters are out to get me. They're always breaking, getting caught, or losing 'teeth'. Even though replacing a zipper is a relatively easy process, the fragility they have yields many unusable zippers.
But now that designers have given us the goahead to wear zippers anywhere on our clothing, we don't really need them to work anymore, do we? To get some of the looks achieved in recent designs, sewing in a broken zipper to a piece of clothing is about all you have to do. They're being strewn about on boots, coats, and dresses for purely aesthetic reasons these days.
